The Nikon D3000 is a 10.2 megapixel DSLR.  It was introduced to the public in July of 2009.  The D3000 comes equipped with an 11-point autofocus system which makes it easy for beginners to use.  The D3000 also comes with a 3-inch LCD display screen.  This screen is bigger than most DSLRs which have a 2.5-inch display.  One feature that the D3000 does not have is a "live view" option, and the capability to record video.  Live view gives the photographer the option of composing the shot on the camera's lcd screen rather than using the viewfinder.  I personally do not find a problem with that missing option.  There are also many accessories for the D3000 so that each individual can personalize their camera, and their photography.
